President advises students to use knowledge for society’s betterment

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi advised the students to utilize the knowledge which they had gained at the educational institutions, for the betterment of society.

Getting education was vital for a human being to counter problems and challenges of life, he said while addressing a convocation here at the International Islamic University Islamabad.

The president said a two dimensional approach should be adopted for getting education. On the one hand it should be job-driven and on the other it should be aimed at serving the society and the country, he added.

Congratulating the graduating students on completion of their education, the president said they should be mindful of the trust reposed in them by the university and the parents, and used their knowledge for the welfare of other human fellows.

He underscored the important role played of the parents in getting their children complete education. He quoted a Hadith (saying) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) that upbringing of virtuous children by parents was a contribution towards the society.

Dr Alvi said with the blessings of Alllah Almighty, Pakistan had successfully countered the enemy’s aggression last month. The leadership took wise decisions to steer the country out of crisis, he added.

He said the nation building would take time. Pakistan had been facing multifaceted challenges for decades and now it was emerging as a strong country, he added.

He said the Muslim Ummah, which had been facing difficulties and challenges, was also today becoming more stable.

The president later conferred degrees on the graduating students of different disciplines and awarded medals to position holders.
