North Waziristan Agency cleared of terrorists
President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said North Waziristan including Shawal Valley had been completely cleared of miscreants and peace was restored due to sustained operations of the army.
Talking to Member National Assembly Muhammad Nazir Khan who led a delegation from his constituency in North Waziristan Agency, the President said the repatriation and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) was being carried out on priority.
The President said no stone would be left unturned in providing educational, health and other development facilities to the tribal people.
He expressed his satisfaction over the pace of return of the displaced persons to their homes and said the government in consultation with the local representatives would ensure restoration of economic and commercial activities.
President Mamnoon appreciated that the army had undertaken a lot of work for infrastructure development and construction of health and educational institutions.
He said the FATA Secretariat would be directed to expedite work on development and welfare projects in consultation with the local representatives.
President Mamnoon paid tributes to the people of tribal areas for rendering immense sacrifices during the war against terrorism and said the entire nation valued their contribution in restoration of peace in the region.
Muhammad Nazir Khan, also the Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Professional and Technical Training briefed the President about the overall development activities in North Waziristan Agency.
He said due to the commitment of the government and the Army, the area had been completely cleared of the terrorists and peace had been restored.
He also submitted proposals regarding infrastructure development, provision of health and education facilities and development of agriculture in the area.
