DASU Hydropower project: World Bank reiterates full support to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The World Bank has reiterated its resolve for early implementation of Dasu hydropower project.
The reaffirmation came during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Thursday to review implementation status of the project. Country Director, World Bank Patchamuthu Illangovan was also present in the meeting.
The Country Director World Bank appreciated the government for undertaking the project with strong commitment. He assured full support for financing arrangement of the project.
The Finance Minister highlighted that early implementation of Dasu Project Stage I is a national priority to make affordable power available.
Officials of the Ministry of Water and Power and WAPDA informed the meeting that land acquisition process will now be expedited following resolution of the issue of provincial tax.
