ISLAMABAD - PML N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif faces another big setback from the federal government.
The Cabinet has decided to include the name of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz in the Exit Control List (ECL), media has reported.
The decision was taken during a meeting of Cabinet members under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had recommended the inclusion of Maryam Nawaz's name in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case in the ECL, after which the Cabinet approved the recommendation.
The NAB had recommended that Maryam Nawaz's name be placed in the ECL in the said case.
In its request, NAB had stated that Maryam Nawaz is an accused in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case with her father Nawaz Sharif and investigations of money laundering are underway.
The accountability bureau stated that PML-N vice president's name should be included in the ECL in as she might fly abroad.
On December 24, 2019, the Federal Cabinet had decided not to remove the name of Maryam Nawaz from the ECL.
In her petition, Maryam Nawaz pleaded that her father Nawaz Sharif's health deteriorated and he was under medical treatment out of the country.
