Afghan peace official due in Tehran for talks on regional consensus

KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s special envoy in peace talks Mohammad Omar Daudzai is scheduled to visit Tehran in coming days for talks on regional consensus about peace process in the country, according to the spokesman of Afghanistan’s High Peace Council (HPC) Ihsan Taheri.

Daudzai, also the HPC’s secretary, is to visit Tehran within the framework of his visits to different regional countries, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) has reported.

Iran is one of the countries that has held talks with Taliban representatives on the peace process in Afghanistan with acknowledgment of the country’s government. Iran supports Intra-Afghan peace talks under the supervision of Afghan government.
