PEMRA issues advisory to all TV Channels, days after ISPR urge

*ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued an advisory to all TV Channels over positive reporting, days after ISPR made an urge to media.*
*PEMRA has ‘advised’ news and current affairs channels to avoid excessive coverage of crime, violence and sexual abuse.*
“All news and current affairs channels are, therefore, advised to ensure compliance of PEMRA laws, including Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015 and highlight the positive developments in the country,” the media watchdog said in an advisory.

It said that despite repeated requested, some news channels “are still in the race to glorify crime news in prime time”.
PEMRA’s advice comes a few days after Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor requested the media to project a positive image of Pakistan.
