Tayyip Erdogan offers reconciliation between Pakistan - Afghanistan

ANKARA - The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani reiterated the Afghan government’s stance to hold peace talks both the Pakistani authorities and the Taliban group.
According to the Office of the President, ARG Palace, President Ghani informed regarding his government’s stance during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
President Ghani said the Afghan government is prepared for two way peace talks, including direct talks with the Pakistani authorities and intra-Afghan talks with the Taliban group.
In his turn, President Erdogan said the government of Turkey supports the reconciliation process in Afghanistan and emphasized that they are prepared for an all-out support to improve ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
President Ghani has persistently insisted on peace talks both with Pakistan and Taliban to end the violence in Afghanistan.
In his remarks during a meeting with the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew in Kabul last month, President Ghani said a proper roadmap should be prepared for reconciliation with Pakistan considering that the new US strategy for South Asia has created an environment and opportunity for regional cooperation.
Earlier, he had said peace talks with Pakistan is important and should come first before holding talks with the anti-government armed militant groups.
