In a rare gesture, Saudi King rejects ally US policy over Jerusalem

RIYADH - Saudi Arabia's King, Salman bin Abdulaziz has said that Palestinians have the right to East Jerusalem as their capital.

In his annual speech outlining his government's priorities for the coming year, the Saudi King said we renew our deep regret over the US decision on Jerusalem.

King Salman said Saudi Arabia has called for a political solution to resolve regional crises, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue and the restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, including the right to establish their independent state with east Jerusalem as its capital.

The Saudi King also outlined his priorities focusing on the economy, emphasizing the government's anti-corruption crackdown, fight against terrorism, and push for the private sector and continuing the reforms process in the country.
