NAB rejects Hamza's allegations

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) outright rejected the allegations levelled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz against the Director General of NAB Lahore regarding fake degree. A NAB spokesman, in a statement, said the NAB Lahore DG had never discussed his degree with Hamza Shehbaz.

Hamza Shehbaz remained silent at that time and had now started talking about the fake degree issue belatedly which was useless, he added.
The spokesman said Hamza was trying to influence NAB by levelling baseless allegations against it and that too when the Bureau had solid proofs of his involvement in money laundering and having assets beyond means cases.

The degree of NAB Lahore DG had already been verified by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the report in that regard had also been submitted in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, he added.
The spokesman also rejected the impression that the Bureau was under government's influence. "NAB is an independent organization and strictly believes in performing its duties under the law. NAB also respects sanctity of any individual, women or home."

He said the main aim of summoning female members of Sharif family was verification of a complaint received against them from the state of Pakistan. According to the complaint a huge amount had been transferred in their accounts through money laundering, he added.
The spokesman expressed the hope that Hamza Shehbaz would better concentrate on submitting reply to clarify his position regarding investigations being conducted against him.
