CM calls for immediate filling of vacancies in the E&SE department

PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has directed the officials of Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) Department to immediately complete the hiring of teachers on 7500 vacant posts in the province.

He further directing that modalities for additional 12000 posts should be worked out and a summary in this regard be finalized for approval.

The directives were issued by the Chief Minister while chairing a meeting of the five years development plan of the E&SE department.

The meeting also attended by Advisor to Chief Minister on E&SE Ziaullah Bangash and other high ranking officials on Saturday.

The CM has also directed the Independent Monitoring Units (IMUs) to submit monthly evaluation report on the performance of teachers in every district adding that teachers who are found negligent in their duties will be proceeded against as per law.

The CM directed the education department to initiate “Stoory da Pakhtunkhwa” scholarship program in the Newly Merged Districts by 15th of April in order to provide greater opportunities to deserving students in the higher education sector.

Mahmood Khan furthered that 6500 additional posts for teachers will be approved soon in order to do away with the shortage of staff in the primary schools of the Newly Merged Districts.

The meeting was informed that the five year plan for reforms in the E&SE sector will be presented to the provincial cabinet soon for approval under which 10,000 international standard classrooms will be constructed in schools throughout the province.

The Chief Minister principally agreed to the hiring of engineers council from private sector adding that with the public private partnership, for uplift of education in the province, will not only provide development to the private sector but will also strengthen the public private sector relationship.

The Chief Minister was also informed that the E&SE department is currently focused towards improving elementary education, introducing reforms in education sector, promoting public private partnership, introducing management reforms, ensuring participation of community, initiation of double shifts in schools, rating of educational institutions in districts, strengthening parent-teacher councils, redressal of complaints from parents, filling of all vacant positions, initiating plantation drive in schools, resolution of issues related to education institution cadres and introduction of special reforms package in the newly much districts.

The chief ministers also stressed on the need of bringing all out of school children to schools and bringing the secondary school education standards at par with international standards.

Mahmood Khan further directed that the existing 6000 schools in the Newly Merged Districts should be given same infrastructure and related facilities as per schools in other areas of the province.

The meeting was informed that 350 schools in the Newly Merged Districts have been reconstructed whereas the restructuring of the entire E&SE department is underway. In addition to introduction of IT in schools throughput the province, the E&SE department is also currently imparting trainings to teachers in 16 districts of the province under the professional development program.
