BREAKING: Afghan Taliban cut electricity supply line to Kabul

KABUL- Baghlan provincial police said on Saturday that Taliban insurgents destroyed an electricity pylon in Baghlan province late Friday night.

According to the officials, the destruction of the pylon, which transmits electricity from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, has left Kabul without power.

Local officials from Baghlan province said Saturday that heavy clashes between security forces and Taliban are currently underway.

According to local officials the clash started early Saturday in Kelagai area after a group of Taliban attacked a police check post.

Baghlan police said early Saturday the clash was ongoing and that the Taliban had closed Kabul-Baghlan highway to traffic.

Later local officials said the highway had been reopened to traffic but clashes were ongoing.

Baghlan police said that during the clash one policeman who was travelling from Kabul to Baghlan with his family was killed.

No further details were given and no information on further casualties was released.

The Taliban has not yet commented on this.
