LAHORE - Amid severe backlash on custodial deaths and police brutality, Punjab govt has decided to replace incumbent Inspector General of Punjab Police (IG) Arif Nawaz with Mohsin Hassan, GNN has learned.
As per details garnered, the move is part of wider strategy aimed at major reshuffling in the police department and implementation of much-needed and much-awaited reforms in the wake of severe public backlash.
Mohsin Hassan is currently performing duties as IG Balochistan.
Likewise, Buzdar-led Punjab govt is also mulling over changing DIG Operations, DIG Investigation, CCPO and other high-profile officials.
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar—who is extremely unhappy on performance of Punjab Police and ensuing criticism—is likely to take decision in this regard in the upcoming two to three days.
