Youm-e-Ashur across Pakistan: How nation observed the day

ISLAMABAD (APP): The Youm-e-Ashur was observed across the country peacefully on Wednesday amid tight security to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Grand Son of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Hazrat Imam Hussein (RA) and his companions.

Multiple processions took place under tight security along the routes of processions to avoid any untoward incident. The federal and provincial governments took strict security measures to maintain law and order on the occasion.

Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions were taken out in all small and big towns of the country. Religious scholars highlighted the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbla tragedy. Food packs, water, milk and sherbet were distributed among the mourners in the processions at temporary stalls through out the day.

In Islamabad, scores of small processions were taken out in different areas,including G-6/4 and I-10/2, which had already been culminated.The processions in Nilor, Jhangi Syedan, and Sihala were culminated on their traditional routes.

In Rawalpindi, the main Zuljinah, Alam and Tazia procession of Youm-e-Ashur was taken out from Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain. Small mourning processions joined the main procession at different points in the city. It culminated at Imambargah Qadeemi.

In Lahore,the central mourning procession was taken out from Nisar Haveli Mochi Gate last night and culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah after sunset where majles-e-Shahm-e-Ghariban is held.

As many as 15,000 policemen were deployed while main procession were monitored through 270 CCTV cameras the processions.

In Multan, over 5,000 policemen and 4,000 national volunteers were deployed to provide security to Muharram processions.

The processions were taken out from Astana Lal Shah Mashhadi, Imambargah Jawwadia, Haveli Mureed Shah,Imambargah Sher Shah, Hussainabad (Daulat Gate), Imambargah Azeem Shah, Lal Kurti, Hussain Agahi, Imambargah Heera Hyderi, Imambargah Hussainia and from other Imambargahs in the city which joined the main procession and concluded at Darbar Hazrat Shah Shams Sabazwari.

In Sargodha, over 5,000 policemen and 4,000 national volunteers were deployed to protect Muharram processions.

The processions were taken out from Astana Lal Shah Mashhadi, Imambargah Jawwadia, Haveli Mureed Shah, Imambargah Sher Shah, Hussainabad (Daulat Gate), Imambargah Azeem Shah, Lal Kurti, Hussain Agahi, Imambargah Heera Hyderi, Imambargah Hussainia and from other Imambargahs in the city which joined the main procession and concluded at Darbar Hazrat Shah Shams Sabazwari.

In Karachi, Ashura processions were taken out from Nishtar Park and culminated at Imambargah Hussainan Iranian Kharadar in the evening after passing through Numaish Chowrangi, M.A. Jinnah Road, Imam Bargah Ali Raza, Sea Breeze, Empress Market, Regal, Tibet Centre and Bolton Market.

Security cameras have been installed at 275 places to monitor the processions and more than 15,000 policemen ensured safety of the participants.

In Hyderabad, over 200 mourning processions are taken out in various areas of the city.

The central procession emanated from Qadam Gah Moula Ali (RA) was culminated at Karbala Dadan Shah after covering over 1 kilometer distance.

In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinnah procession was taken out from Imam Bargah Alamdar Qissa Khawani Bazaar after Zuhar prayer.The procession after passing through its traditional routes terminated at its starting point.

Foolproof security measures have been taken in most sensitive districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Kohat, Mansehra, Tank, Kuram Agency's city of Parachinar and Aurakzai Agency.

According to police officials for maintaining law and order in KP, the Provincial Government has deployed 36,000 policemen cross the province for peaceful observance of Ashura Muharram.

Against total 36,000 police force, as many as 12,000 have been deputed in Peshawar, 4,500 in Dera Ismail Khan, 4,000 in Bannu and 3,000 in Hangu to protect all the sensitive routes and mourning processions.

In D I Khan, Tank and others adjoining areas, Yaum-e-Ashur was also observed with religious sanctity and fervor.

In Quetta, the main procession was taken out from Punjabi Imam Bargah. The procession after passing through its traditional routes terminated at the same point.

As many as 11 Zuljinah' processions were taken out in the city.

The main procession was joined by Azadars of other Imambargahs including Imambargah Akhwand Abad, Imambargah Alamdare Karbala, Imambargah Syed Alam Shah Jafri, Imambargah Haji Rehman Malik, Imambargah Pura Wali Badshah, Imambargah Sain Suhrab, Imambargah Hussainia, Imambargah Mirza Qasim Isfihani, Imambargah Hussain Abad, Imambargah Syed Mir Haider Shah and Imambargah Mir Fazal Ali Shah Rizvi.

More than 7,000 personnel of security forces were deployed to maintain law and order situation in Quetta.

Yaum-e-Ashur was also observed in Gilgit-Baltistan to commemorate the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.

In Gilgit, the main Ashura procession was brought out from Imamia Markazi Masjid, which was culminated at the same point after passing through traditional routes including Sadar Bazaar, Ghadi Bagh and Jamat Kahna Bazar.

Besides, ten more main processions were taken out in Gilgit-Baltistan and concluded in their respective places peacefully.

Whereas 287 Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras had been installed to closely monitor activities of the processions.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Alam, Zul'jinnah and Tazia processions were brought out from Imambargahs which culminated at their fixed spots after marching through their traditional routes in all ten district headquarters of AJK including Mirpur, Haveili, Muzaffarabad, Hattiyan, Kotli, Bhimbher, Bagh, Sudahnoti, Rawalakot and Neelam valley besides all other major and small towns across the liberated territory.

In Muzaffarabad, main procession of Ashura was taken out from Markazi Pir Ilam Shah Bukhari, which after passing through its traditional route culminated at the same Imambargah.

In Mirpur, main Zuljinah and Tazia procession was taken out from central Imambargah Sa'adat colony.

Public and private hospitals and social welfare organizations and Rescue 1122 provided ambulances and fire brigade squad to the processions.
