LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) summoned the Punjab Law Secretary for November 22 in a petition seeking implementation of the Police Order 2002.

LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Anwaarul Haq heard the petition filed by one Muhammad Razzaq.
During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel argued that as per Police Order 2002, the appointment of the inspector general of police and other senior officers should be made on the recommendations of duly constituted National Public Safety Commission for the purpose. The law was not being implemented, he added.

At this, the chief justice observed that it was an important matter and could not be ignored. He questioned as to
why the court directions were not being followed in that regard.
The additional advocate general apprised the court about steps taken for the purpose. However, the court adjourned the matter till November 22 and summoned the law secretary in person.
