No dengue case detected in district

RAWALPINDI: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Saima Younas said that no case of Dengue had been detected in the district and surveillance was continuing to check its occurrence.

Chairing a meeting to review anti-dengue arrangements, the ADC directed officials to remove stagnant water in outdoor and household settings to stop mosquitoes from breeding after rain and submerged water.

She directed officials of district health authority and social welfare department to expedite surveillance activities or tracing larva and its eradication besides focusing on hotspots where larva has been detected during current checking.

Saima urged for a comprehensive plan for the ongoing year to prevent the spread of dengue larvae in the summer season.

The ADC said nothing is more precious than human life, and zero tolerance would be shown in dengue control activities.

On the occasion health official briefed the meeting that during indoor surveillance in Rawalpindi cantonment ,chaklala cantt and Potohar urban and rural areas from March 5 to March 11, 64,588 houses were checked and larvae was found at 14 houses while during outdoor surveillance 56,034 spots were checked and larvae was found at one point.

He said dengue was under control in Rawalpindi and health department was on high alert to cope with any situation.
