US warns if UNSC doesn't act on Syria, it will

UNITED NATIONS: United States says Washington remains prepared to act if UN Security Council fails to act on Syria as onslaught in eastern Ghouta continued unabated.

U.S. Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley told 15-member Security Council at the United Nations that when international community consistently fails to act, there are times when states are compelled to take their own action.

Meanwhile, in Syria, regime forces' jets carried out first aerial attacks in rebel-held towns in southern parts of country since United States and Russia reached an agreement making it a de-escalation zone last year.

A rebel source said, at least eight raids struck rebel-held towns of Busr al-Harir, Hrak, al-Gharaiya al-Gharbiya and al-Sowara in rural areas in eastern Deraa province in southern Syria. APP/AFP
