Rights bodies urged to visit prisoners in Jammu jails

ISLAMABAD: The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) in Indian occupied Kashmir has said that the prisoners from outside particularly Azad Kashmir lodged in different jails on fake charges are subjected to mental and physical torture.

According to Kashmir media service , a JKML spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that these prisoners in Udhampur, Kotbalwal, Kathua and other jails were meted out inhuman treatment.
“The jail authorities treat these prisoners like professional criminals in jails which have been turned into worst centres of interrogation,” the spokesman added.

The spokesman urged the international human rights organizations to visit these jails and see for themselves how these prisoners were tortured mentally and physically and were denied their basic rights.

The party said that the prisoners were provided with unhygienic food, which was affecting their health badly.
It is worth mentioning here that whosoever mistakenly crosses into occupied Kashmir from Line of Control areas of Azad Kashmir is arrested by Indian troops and kept in pathetic conditions in jails.
