Mirwaiz warns India, demographic change will not be allowed in IOK

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that people of Kashmir will not allow India to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar on Saturday, he said that the Kashmiri people would resist tooth and nail any move aimed at changing the demography of the territory, which this time is being done by New Delhi through the judicial route by challenging the state subject law in the Supreme Court of India.

He said that changing state subject laws would have a direct bearing on the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiris’ ongoing movement for right to self-determination.

Senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement expressing concern over the prolonged detention of all Kashmiri political prisoners demanded their immediate release.

He said that India was using all kinds of brutal methods to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle but would never succeed in its nefarious designs.

Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have heightened the so-called security and deployed 1,500 additional military and paramilitary troops in Jammu ahead of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit. As per reports, Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu on a daylong tour on Tuesday to kick-start the campaign for the coming so-called elections for Lok Sabha and Kashmir Assembly.

Apart from launching various Jammu-centric developmental projects, he will also address a public rally at Vijaypur in Samba district.
