Climate smart technology package worth Rs. 127 million introduced

MULTAN: (APP) The Punjab government has introduced a "climate smart technology" package for farmers under a Rs 127.7 million initiative to enable farmers get higher agriculture production while beating climatic hazards.

Agriculture Spokesman Naveed Asmat Kahlon said solar energy and tunnel technology were the main features of the project which will enable farmers achieve production targets within scheduled duration in the face of weather related hazards.

The project would be completed in three years and a project implementation committee had been formed with secretary agriculture Punjab to serve as its convener. The DG agriculture (Field), DG agriculture (Water management) and DG Agriculture (Extension) would be its members while the project director would work as secretary of the implementation committee.

Solar energy would be utilised for agriculture purposes under this project. The project was in harmony with the Punjab Growth Strategy 2018 and Agriculture Plan 2015 and was a step forward in the Punjab government's pursuit to achieve higher production targets despite adverse circumstances.
