Washington dismisses idea of US-Israel settlement annexation

WASHINGTON:The United States has dismissed reports that Washington has discussed possibility of Israel's annexing Jewish settlements in occupied West Bank.
The White House Spokesman Josh Raffel in a statement said the United States and Israel have never discussed such a proposal and the president’s focus remains squarely on his Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative.”
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Nabil Abu Rdainah said any annexation would “destroy all efforts to try and save the peace process”.APP/AFP
