US to push for repatriation of foreign fighters in Syria

WASHINGTON:The United States is urging its allies to help deal with the growing number of foreign fighters held by the Washington-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.
Principal Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary for International Security Affairs Kathryn Wheelbarger said in a statement that the US is working with the coalition on foreign fighters and generally expects these detainees to return to their country of origin for disposition.
The SDF is currently holding thousands of IS detainees, including hundreds of foreign fighters from a number of nations.( AP)
