Pakistan wants good relations with US but cannot be made scapegoat for failures in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON - Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry has said that Islamabad and Washington have to continue to work together to secure peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

Addressing an event on Pakistan-U.S. relations at California, he said although Pakistan desires good relations with the United States but it cannot be made a scapegoat for the failures of others in Afghanistan.

He said that peace in Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s own interest and political reconciliation is the only option to move forward.

He expressed the hope that people to people contacts and private sector engagements will remain continue despite a stress in relations between the two countries.
