ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) sought reply from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a petition challenging the eligibility of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) MPA Kashif Chaudhry.
Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC heard the petition against the eligibility of member of the provincial assembly (MPA) of Punjab filed by Sarwar Chaudary Advocate.
The petitioner stated in his plea that the MPA had submitted a fake bachelor degree with the ECP to participate in the 2018 general election. He also concealed the facts from the ECP as he did not mention his disqualification in 2013 in the affidavit submitted along with nomination form.
He showed dishonesty and did not fall in the criteria for assembly membership under Article 62-1 of the Constitution, the petitioner added and prayed the court to disqualify him.
After hearing the arguments, the bench sought reply from the ECP and Kashif Chaudhry within two weeks.
