Shoaib Malik makes historic record in the T20 international cricket

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik has created history In the T20 cricket international.

He has achieved another feat as he reached 8,000 runs in T20 format on Sunday.

Malik, who made his international debut in 1999, scored his 8,000th run with a four to Ashley Nurse playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Barbados Tridents in a game of Caribbean Premier League.

West Indies’ giant opener, Chris Gayle, New Zealand’s former skipper Brendon McCullum and the aggressive Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard are the other three batsmen to reach the landmark before Malik.

Shoaib Malik is also the highest scorer for Pakistan in T20 internationals with 2,109 runs and the third highest scorer in the world just behind New Zealand’s duo of Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum who have scored 2,271 and 2,140 respectively.

Chris Gayle, with 21 centuries to his name, has scored 11,575 runs in the 20-over format. Whereas, Brendon McCullum and Kieron Pollard have scored 9,188 and 8,225 runs respectively.
