KP IGP directs to improve traffic situation in province

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salah Ud din Khan Mehsud on Thursday directed traffic police high ups to adopt measures to improve traffic situation in the province including in the southern district on priority basis.

These directives were issued after a detailed briefing on traffic management in the province. DIG traffic Tahir Ayub and SSP traffic Peshawar Sadiq Hussain Baloch gave a detailed presentation to police chief.

The IGP said it is imperative to develop traffic system based on modern requirements and need of the society, adding traffic problems in the province particularly in Peshawar need to be addressed on priority basis.

The DIG and SSP traffic were directed to identify hurdles in smooth flow of traffic and devise a strategy in consultation with stakeholders to overcome these in an effective manner.

The IGP directed the traffic high ups to devise long, medium and short term strategies in the light of traffic vision, mission, core values and goals as well as fix time-line to achieve these goals.

Taking notice of violation of one-way traffic on Bannu-DI Khan highways, the IGP directed DIG traffic to chalk out a comprehensive plan in coordination with DIGs Bannu and DI Khan, concerned national highways' authority and other concerned departments so that safe and secure one way traffic could be ensured on it.
