Red Sea to be bridged by SaudiArabia-Egypt

CAIRO: Saudi Arabia and Egypt announced to build bridge over Red Sea to connect two countries.

King Salman Said “I agreed with my brother his excellency President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to build a bridge connecting the two countries. This historic step to connect the two countries, Africa and Asia, is a qualitative transformation that will increase trade between the two continents to unprecedented levels.”

The announcement was made after meeting between Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdel Aziz and Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in which 17 other agreements worth $1.7 billion were also inked.

President Sisi also presented Egypt’s highest honour award Nile Collar to Saudi King and claimed that the bridge will be named after King Salman.

The agreements include investment in different sectors including a university and homes to be built in South Sinai.

King Salman is on a five day official visit of Egypt and it is expected that more agreements in several fields will be signed to strengthen bilateral ties.
