Nawaz, Maryam granted yet another parole time extension after 3 days

LONDON – Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (R) Safdar have been granted yet another parole extension from the Punjab government.
Government has notified another parole for jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retired) Muhammad Safdar.
The extension has been granted to attend the last rites of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar have been given five days to participate in the last rites of Sharif’s wife and PML-N stalwart, Kulsoom Nawaz, according to the latest notification issued by the home ministry.
The three were transported to their Jati Umra residence from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi amid tight security after getting a 12-hour parole which was later extended to three days.
On Tuesday, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz passed away at London’s Harley Street Clinic after a prolonged battle with cancer.
The news was confirmed by PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif. Kulsoom Nawaz is survived by her husband and four children, Hassan, Hussain, Maryam and Asma.
“My sister-in-law and wife of Mian Nawaz Sharif, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz is no more. May her soul rest in peace,” Shehbaz Sharif said.
“Nawaz Sharif had always consulted Kulsoom Nawaz during his tough hours. She [Kulsoom Nawaz] challenged dictatorship courageously,” stated Shehbaz while adding at the same time late Kulsoom’s affiliation with democracy was proven and time-tested.
Shehbaz added nation will always remember services of Kulsoom Nawaz for democracy. He later flew to London link attend the first set of funeral prayers and bring back the dead body.
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said the final funeral prayers will be offered on Friday evening at Sharif Medical City in Lahore.
The funeral prayers will be offered at 5pm on Friday and Rasm-e-Quul would take place at Jati Umra from Asr till Maghrib on Sunday, the spokesperson announced in a twitter message.
A PIA flight, PK-758, carrying the casket will fly from Heathrow airport Thursday at 10pm. It will arrive in Pakistan on Friday at 6am after which a second funeral prayer will be held at the Sharif Medical City.
