The first ever deep sea terminal in the history of Pakistan, operationalised at Karachi Port

KARACHI - Pakistan’s first ever deep-water container terminal has operationalised at the Karachi Port .

The deep-water container terminal has the capacity to carry 17,000-18,000 containers of 20-foot each.

Existing container terminals in the country house vessels of the capacity of around 8,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) due to deep water and other handling constraints.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while inaugurating it says restoration of peace in Karachi is success of all of us.

Addressing the ceremony after inauguration of National Incubation center in Karachi this evening, he said Pakistan’s progress and development is linked with Karachi.

He said in spite of difficulties attention is being paid to development projects.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that continuity of democratic system is imperative for the development and progress of the country.

He said that Information Technology Parks will be established in the country to promote Information Technology in the country.

Our Karachi correspondent Altaf Pirzado reports that National Incubation Center has been established at NED University under government’s digiskill programme to at provide digital skilled training to the youth.

Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman in her address presented the salient features of the Center.
