Kashmiris across the World to observe Martyrs day

SRINAGAR - Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, tomorrow (Friday).

They will observe day as the day of reaffirmation of the pledge that they will continue the mission of their martyrs till the achievement of the inalienable right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the day will be marked by complete shutdown and a march towards Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar where martyrs of 1931 are buried.

Call for the observance of the day has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The Indian authorities continued to place all resistance leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi either under house detention or in jails to prevent them from leading the march towards Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib, tomorrow (Friday).

Meanwhile, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one more youth in Kupwara district, today (Thursday).

The youth was killed during the ongoing cordon and search operation by the Indian troops in Kandi area of the district.

The killings led to complete shutdown in Kupwara district. The authorities imposed curfew and other restrictions in the district to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killings.

On other hand, hundreds of people, today, participated in the funeral prayers of 20-year-old youth at Trehgam in Kupwara district.

The youth, identified as Khalid Ghafar was killed after the Indian troops opened fire on a group of protesters at Trehgam village yesterday (Wednesday).

Shutdown was also observed in Kishtwar and adjoining areas of Jammu region against the rise in civilian killings in the Kashmir Valley.

*AJK: Day of martyrs of 13th July 1931 to be observed on Friday*

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Day of martyrs of 13th of July 1931 will be observed tomorrow (Friday) at government level in a befitting manner to pay tributes to their sacrifices.

Functions and rallies have been arranged at district level. Tomorrow is general public holiday across the state.

The main function of the day will be held in Muzaffarabad. It has been arranged by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.

Political figures and people belonging to all walks of life have been invited to attend the function to express solidarity with the Kashmiris who are struggling for their just right, Right to self-determination.
