LAHORE - Former foreign secretary Aizaz Chaudhry is in hot waters over illegal purchase case.
He allegedly misused his authority to facilitate the “illegal purchase” of at least 34 vehicles from Germany, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigators have found.
The anti-graft watchdog said Chaudhry allegedly approved a summary to purchase 34 bullet-proof BMWs from Germany.
Fawad Hassan Fawad, a close aide of Nawaz Sharif, had ordered that 20 of the 34 vehicles be used for Sharif family’s protocol.
According to sources, NAB has obtained five volumes pertaining to the “illegal purchase” from the foreign ministry. The watchdog has also obtained a copy of the summary and that of a letter dispatched by Fawad Hassan Fawad.
