Pakistan Shooting Team flexes muscle for upcoming Rio Olympics

LAHORE (APP): Pakistan Olympic Association President Lt. Gen.(retd) Syed Arif Hasan on Monday visited the national shooting training camp at Karachi in connection with the preparations for Rio Olympics under the supervision of a foreign coach.

"The shooters have been selected through wild card entry and they are sharpening their skills under the watchful eyes of foreign Coach Vladimir Kovalenko," said Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary, POA while talking to APP here.

"POA chief specially visited the camp and was pleased to see the training of the shooters and was hopeful that they will put up their best show in Rio Olympics," he added.

"Gen Arif emphasized that such training camps under the qualified foreign Coaches must be visualized and planned by the National Sports Federations in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Federations and the respective international federations to raise the standard of country's sportsmen," he maintained.

He said the officials of Pakistan Shooting Federation thanked President, POA for meeting the shooters and providing IOC / OCA Shooting Training Courses which were instrumental for qualification of shooters in RIO Olympics-2016.
