Student Unions deadly clash in Islamabad University leaves over 10 among injured and dead

ISLAMABAD – Student Unions deadly clash in Islamabad University leaves over 10 among injured and dead.

At least nine students were injured in a clash between two student groups in International Islamic University, Islamabad on Thursday night.

The brawl erupted between Islami Jamiat Tulba and the Saraiki Student Federation during a function at the university premises. Both the groups exchanged firing during the clash. In the fight, one dead and 11 were injured due to the firing.

Heavy contingents of police, after being informed, rushed to the university and controlled the situation. Police officials said that they were searching the hostels to recover weapons and arrest the miscreants.

The injured students were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.

The deceased student was identified as Tufailur Rehman and Miraj Khattak, Muhammad Usama, Jammal Cheema, Muaz Saeed, Faisal and Irfan were among the wounded students.

Earlier, the police arrested over 70 students while 37 others were suspended from Punjab University after the clash link the varsity premises. The arrested students have been shifted to an unknown location.
