Opposition walks out from NA against missing persons in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Wednesday demanded to recover the missing persons from Sindh and produce them before the court of law.

As he talked of ensuring rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution, the opposition parties jointly walked out of the House demanding an immediate action and surety about the recovery of missing persons for their coming back and join the proceedings.

"Supremacy of the parliament can only be guaranteed when we respect the law of land and it is required under the law to produce before the court, anybody arrested on any charges," the opposition leader said.

He said no party in the House would desire that the supremacy of Constitution was not ensured as otherwise it would weaken the system.

He said there was Constitution, courts and parliament in the country, and if the government and the Speaker would not protect those institutions, then opposition was left with no other option than to protest.

The opposition leader said the issue of missing persons was not a matter of the government or the opposition, rather it was something which related to the supremacy of Constitution and the law.

He then announced to walk out of the House till an assurance came from the government about early recovery of the missing persons.

Speaking on the occasion, members from other opposition parties, including Sheikh Salahuddin, Abdul Qahar Wadan and others, also raised their voice against the missing persons and joined the walk out.

The members also took up the issue of blocking CNICs of Pakhtuns in some parts of the country and demanded to stop this practice as it gave an impression of discrimination. (APP)
