Pakistan, Ireland historic test begins in Dublin today

ISLAMABAD: The lone and historic test match between Pakistan and Ireland begins at Dublin 's Malahide ground in Ireland today (Friday).

The match will start at 3:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time.

Ireland will become the 11th Test playing nation when its team face Pakistan.

Ireland's dream of playing Test matches has taken as long as three hundred years to come true, as there are records of cricket being played in Ireland as early as 1731, with Dublin 's Phoenix Cricket Club founded in 1830, which is still going on.

Ireland first made the rest of the cricket world take notice when they beat the touring West Indies in an ODI, in 1969.

In World Cup, 2007 Ireland defeated Pakistan in a group match then they went on to win another World Cup match against England in 2011.

Both the Ireland and Afghanistan teams were elevated to Test status by ICC, last year. APP
