ISLAMABAD - International Arms deals increase globally, the top 5 Arms exporters of the World have been revealed for the last five years.
The volume of international transfers of major arms in 2014–18 was 7.8 per cent higher than in 2009–13 and 23 per cent higher than in 2004–2008, new data on arms transfers by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) says.
The five largest exporters, accounting for 75 per cent of the total volume of arms exports in 2014–18, include the United States, Russia, France, Germany, and China.
A substantial flow of arms to the Middle East was observed between 2009–13 and 2014–18, while there was a decrease in flows to all other regions.
While US arms exports grew by 29 per cent between 2009-13 and 2014-18, with the share of total global exports rising from 30 per cent to 36 per cent, Russia's arms export has fallen.
If reports are to be believed, Russia's arms export to India has fallen by a whopping 42% between 2009-2013 and 2014-18.
