Govt to complete its tenure and general elections to be held on time: PM

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says Pakistan has witnessed rapid economic growth during the last five years and there is no need to go to IMF for any assistance.

In an interview with a private channel, he said the government put the country on the path of development and this journey will continue in future as well.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said a number of development projects are being completed in the country.

He said the government will complete its tenure and the general elections will be held on time.

Replying to a question, the Prime Minister said all decisions are being taken with consensus in the party and there is no division on the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. 

He said appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui as ambassador to the United States has been made purely on merit.

To a question about situation in Afghanistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Islamabad wants to establish peace and stability in the neighboring country because instability in Afghanistan directly affects Pakistan.

He demanded that Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the resolutions passed by the United Nations as per aspirations of Kashmiris. He said India is realizing that the situation in held Kashmir is out of its control.APP/AFP
