ISIS has been contained to Nangarhar province of Afghanistan only: US General

WASHINGTON: US Brigadier General Wilson Shoffner claimed that ISIS has been to Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
He claimed that ISIS has contained one district out of 404 within the entire country which is a failure of the group in the region.
He said “Pretty horrific facts committed by Daesh in Nangarhar province that really were unpopular with the population have helped undermine their support in Afghanistan.”
He claimed that Nangarhar is considered as a base of ISIS but it cannot establish itself in the past years.
He claimed that ISIS fighters were between 1,000 to 3,000 in seven districts of Nangarhar but it has reduced dramatically.
He claimed that NATO combat mission has ended in 2014 and now the forces are focusing to train Afghan military to counter terrorism.
