NEW YORK: Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has become the highest paid athlete in the world by Forbes magazine.

 

Forbes magazine issued an annual list of  highest paid athletes which is topped by Cristiano Ronaldo with an amount of $88 million.

 

The list is as follows:

1.Christiano Ronaldo - Real Madrid - $88 million

2.Lionel Messi – FC Barcelona - $81.4 million

3.LeBron James – Cleveland Cavalries - %77.2 million

4.Roger Federer – Tennis player - $67.8 milliom

5.Kevin Durant – Oklahoma City Thunder - $56.2 million

6.Novak Djokovic – Tennis player - $55.8 million

7.Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers - $53.1 million

8.Phil Mickelson – Golfer- $52.8 million

9.Jordan Spieth – Golfer - $52.8 million

10.Kobe Bryant – Los Angeles Lakers - $50 million

 

“This year I think is more reflective of what’s going on in the sports world where salaries are sky-rocking for team sports. The minimum to make the list this year went up $2 million to $20.8 million. It’s the first time we’ve seen a team athlete head up the list since 1998 with Michael Jordan,” said Forbes senior editor Kurt Badenhausen.
