Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz not put on ECL: Interior Ministry

*ISLAMABAD - The names of former PM Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, have not been placed on the Exit Control List, said the interior ministry.*

The ministry spokesperson said that reports about placing their names on the Exit Control List (ECL) were untrue as the decision will be taken upon their arrival in the country. He said that the interim cabinet’s sub-committee will decide if the former PM and his daughter have to be put on the list.

Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been in London since June 15. They had gone to spend Eid with former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. A day before their arrival in London, Begum Kulsoom suffered a cardiac arrest and has since been on life support at the Harley Street Clinic. The two announced that they will return to Pakistan on July 13.

Three days ahead of their expected arrival, it was reported that the interior ministry placed the names of Mr Sharif and his daughter on the Exit Control List on Tuesday.
