LHC dismisses plea against ban on local govt representatives for campaign

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition challenging ban on local government representatives to participate in the election campaign 2018, after declaring it non-maintainable.

The single bench comprising Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza had reserved the verdict on maintainability of the petition, filed by Lahore Union Council 76 Chairman Ejaz Hafeez, and it was announced today.

The petitioner submitted that the Election Commission of Pakistan has imposed a ban on local government representatives to take part in the election campaign 2018, under Section 18 of the code of conduct.
