Mirwaiz welcomes Norwegian PM’s statement on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Indian Occupied Kashmir has welcomed the statement of Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, wherein she said that her country is willing to mediate on the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India.

According to Kashmir media service, Erna Solberg in an interview with NDTV said that there was no military solution to the Kashmir dispute and if both India and Pakistan were willing, her country was ready to mediate.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a tweet said, “Welcome Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg’s statement with regards to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. We also welcome their offer of mediation to facilitate peace in the region.”

It is to mention here that in 2018 the former Norwegian Prime Minister, Kjell Magne Bondevik, had visited Kashmir and held a dialogue with the Hurriyat leadership on the Kashmir dispute.
Norway has a long history of conflict resolution and Kjell Bondevik had played a key role in the resolution of the conflict with Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka a few years ago.
