Moving scenes as slain seven-year-old Zainab buried, 3 protesters killed
KASUR: Slain seven-year-old Zainab was buried amid moving scenes after her funeral prayers on Wednesday.
PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri led the funeral prayers. The PML-N local leadership did not attend the funeral. The offices of local MNA and MPA were locked.
Zainab’s father had said that they will not bury the body until getting justice. He appealed to Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
“Security is at Jati Umrah and the people are justice worms,” he said.
Meanwhile, three people were killed by the firing of the police when the violent protesters tried to storm the Commissioner Office. Five people injured in the incident.
Baton-wielding protesters broke glasses of vehicle and damaged state property. The protesters also besieged the DPO Office. The Lahore commissioner said that the Rangers have been summoned to control the situation.
Earlier, the body of minor seven-year-old Zainab Ameen, resident of Kasur’s Shahbaz Khan Road was recovered from a garbage pile near few hundred meters from her house.
According to the postmortem report, the minor girl was strangled to death after being raped multiple times.
Zainab Ameen was kidnapped a few days ago when she had gone to her tuition centre.
Punjab IG Arif Nawaz visited the city and ordered to arrested the culprits in 12 years. The four policemen firing at the protesters have been arrested.
Lawyers also boycotted judicial proceedings at district bar in protest and demanded early action into the matter. The residents of Kasur now distressed due to the increasing incidents of kidnapping, rape and murder of minor girls, are now reluctant to send their daughters to schools and tuition centers.
This is the 11th kidnapping incident of minor girls in Kasur. The ages of the girls were reported to be between 5 to 8 years. Eimaan Fatima, Fouzia, Noor Fatima, Sanna, Asma and Laiba were kidnapped from Kasur and its surroundings in 2017, and their dead bodies were recovered from different parts of the city later. The medical reports confirmed sexual assault with the minors.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has made District Police Officer Kasur an OSD and formed a JIT to investigate the case.
The JIT has been ordered to complete investigation and submit its report in 24 hours.
Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, also strongly condemned the incident.
In her tweet, Maryam Nawaz said: “I hope and pray the culprits are not only brought to justice but made an example.
Chief Justice of Pakistan
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has taken a suo motu notice of the incident and sought a report from the Punjab IGP in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also took notice of the issue and put out directives to relevant authorities.
