8 nomination papers submitted for Senate seats from Federal Capital

ISLAMABAD:Eight nomination papers have been filed for federal Capital's Senate seats.
These papers include five for general seats and three for technocrats.
Today was the last date for the filing of nomination papers. The scrutiny of the papers will be completed by Tuesday.
Those competing for FATA seats can file their nomination papers by Monday and scrutiny of these papers will be completed by Thursday.
The election commission has already completed the process of receiving nomination papers from the four provinces.
In Sindh, process of scrutiny of nomination papers filed by candidates for senate elections is also underway at Provincial Election Commissioner in Karachi.
On the other hand, the process of scrutiny of nomination papers filed by the candidates for Senate elections is continuing at Provincial Election Commission Balochistan in Quetta.
Scrutiny of nomination papers filed by eleven candidates for General seats from Blochistan has been completed and no objection has been raised against them.
Polling for the Senate elections will be held on the third of next month at the four provincial assemblies and the parliament house in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regional tax offices will remain open today on account of Senate elections.
The decision has been taken for timely provision of tax profile verification to contesting candidates of Senate elections.APP/AFP
