ISLAMABAD - Sleepless Night in India as Pakistan offered to join Russia China and Iran Naval war games in Indian Ocean.
Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi made offer to Pakidtan who is currently in Pakistan on an official visit.
The Rear Admiral toured the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad today where he called on Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.
Both commanders discussed matters related to regional maritime security and bilateral naval collaboration.
Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi lauded the efforts made by Pakistan in the war against terrorism. During the meeting, Iran’s Navy Commander highlighted the role Pakistan Navy has played in ensuring maritime security and peace across the region.
Hossein Khanzadi also extended an official invitation to Pakistan Navy for participating in the ‘Maritime Security Belt wargame’.
Maritime Security Belt wargame, a joint naval drill between Iran, Russia, and China in the Indian Ocean, will be held on 27 December 2019.
Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi expressed his gratitude to the Iranian Commander for the participation of the Iranian Navy in AMAN-19, a Multinational Maritime Exercise hosted by Pakistan.
Moreover, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said that Iran can serve as an important linking point between East and West in the China-Pakistan maritime corridor.
Currently, the Iranian Navy holds the presidency of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), a voluntary initiative that seeks to increase maritime co-operation among navies of the littoral states of the Indian Ocean Region. Iran’s Navy Commander praised Pakistan’s efforts to help Iran land the presidency of IONS.
On his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, the Iranian Naval Commander was accorded with a Guard of Honor from a contingent of the Pakistan Navy. Hossein Khanzadi also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument at the headquarters.
