Hasan Ali makes historic record

GUYANA: Pakistan’s young medium-fast bowler Hasan Ali has equaled Shoaib Akhtar’s 15-year-old record, according to reports.

With this record, Hasan Ali has become the first Pakistan fast bowler to take five wickets twice in a calendar year since 2002. He picked up five for 38 in second one-day international (ODI) against the West Indies, and five for 52 against Australia earlier this year.

Hasan Ali has also become the second youngest bowler to have a five-wicket haul in the West Indies.

Previously, Shoaib Akhtar took five wickets twice in one calendar year in 2002.

Left-arm bowler Wasim Akram, Right-hand bowlers, Azhar Mahmood and Aaqib Javed have also achieved this feat once.

Waqar Younis is still the only bowler to have achieved this thrice in his career.
