The Ministry of Interior has issued a directive to all provinces regarding the apprehension of Afghan migrants. According to reports, the Ministry of Interior, along with all Chief Secretaries of provinces, has written a letter stating that registered Afghan migrants residing in Pakistan should be spared from arrests.
In the letter, it is emphasized that individuals holding Proof of Registration (PoR) and Afghan Citizenship Cards should not be detained. The relevant authorities are instructed to ensure that Afghan nationals are not apprehended or harassed, and all provinces are urged to take necessary measures in this matter.
On the other hand, the Balochistan Home Department has legally instructed the local police and administration not to harass or intimidate Afghan migrants who are legally residing in the province.
In a communication sent to police officials and district administration, it is clarified that registered Afghan migrants holding PoR and Afghan Citizenship Cards have the right to return to their home country voluntarily and peacefully, without any involvement in criminal or unlawful activities.
Furthermore, it is emphasized in the communication that registered Afghan migrants should not be unnecessarily troubled, harassed, or arrested. Any unwarranted harassment of legally residing Afghan migrants can negatively impact Pakistan's hospitality and the goodwill it has shown over the past four decades.
