General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, has pledged support to the Balochistan government in their efforts to combat illegal activities in the province.

He made this commitment during a meeting of the apex committee, chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar in Quetta on Tuesday. Caretaker Balochistan Chief Minister Ali Mardan Khan Domki also attended the meeting.

The interim government initiated a crackdown last month targeting hoarders, electricity thieves, smugglers, and speculators to bolster the economy. This action followed public protests against high bills and the depreciation of the rupee in the financial markets.

During the meeting, officials provided updates on various matters, including the revised National Action Plan, law enforcement operations, anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics efforts in Balochistan, security for foreign nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other projects, repatriation of illegal foreigners, foreign currency regulation measures, and progress on SIFC initiatives in Balochistan.

The interim prime minister expressed confidence in the progress made by the Balochistan government and assured full support from the federal government. He emphasized the importance of socio-economic development in Balochistan for ensuring peace and prosperity in the province.

The statement also quoted General Asim Munir, who said, "The army, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and government departments, will provide complete support to enforce actions against a wide range of illegal activities, aiming to prevent the depletion of resources and economic losses that the country incurs due to these activities."
