UN urges KSA, Turkey to investigate disappearance of Saudi Journalist

The United Nations has urged Saudi Arabia and Turkey to investigate the disappearance of Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi a week ago.

The spokesperson of the UN human rights office Ravina Shamdasani, in a news briefing in Geneva, raised concern over the apparent enforced disappearance of Khashoggi from the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

She called for cooperation between Turkey and Saudi Arabia to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation into the circumstances of Khashoggi’s disappearance and to make the findings public.

Ravina Shamdasani said the two countries have such an obligation under both criminal law and international human rights law.
