ATC awards rigourous punishment to 4 police officials

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) on Monday awarded 4 years Rigorous Imprisonment to four police officials each for abetting an accused to flee from the police custody.

In addition to the imprisonment the court pronounced fine of Rs 50,000 to each convict.

According to the prosecution, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shahdat Ali, Constables Irfan, Noor Muhammad and Muhammad Ahmed were found guilty of negligence from their duty besides helping the culprit Nasir Shah for fleeing from their custody while another accused Tahir Baig was acquitted due to insufficient evidence against him.

The ATC Judge Muhammad Asghar Khan pronounced the verdict after recording evidence of the witnesses and final arguments by both sides.
