Resolutions at UN committee testifies Pakistan’s commitment to peace: FO spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson for the Foreign Office Dr. Mohammad Faisal Saturday said that adoption of three resolutions by the main committee of the United Nations was a testimony to Pakistan’s commitment to regional and international peace and security.

“Pakistan will continue bringing more focus on these, with a view to supporting global disarmament efforts aimed at strengthening regional and global peace and stability,” he posted on his twitter account.

These resolutions moved by Pakistan and adopted on November 8, were focused on regional disarmament, conventional arms control at regional and sub-regional levels as well as confidence building measures in the regional and sub-regional context.

Dr Faisal on his twitter account further said that the resolutions underscored the importance of regional approaches to disarmament which complemented global disarmament efforts and stressed the need for promoting confidence-building measures for enhancing regional and international peace and security.

Earlier, the committee adopted Pakistan’s annual resolution on assuring non-nuclear weapon states against the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons by a strong majority of 122 votes.
